Running a one-way ANOVA followed by multiple comparisons tests with XLSTAT

چکیده
An Excel sheet with both the data and the results can be downloaded by clicking here. The data correspond to an experiment where 4 new toothpaste formulas were each tested on 6 different patients in order to measure their effect on the whiteness of teeth. All patients had previously used the same toothpaste. Using the ANOVA function of XLSTAT we want to find out if the results differ according to the formula used and, if so, which formula is the most effective. The case is a one-way balanced ANOVA because there is only one factor-the formula-and the number of repetitions is the same for each formula. Once XLSTAT is open, select the XLSTAT / Modeling data / ANOVA command, or click on the corresponding button of the Modeling Data toolbar (see below). Once you have clicked on the button, the ANOVA dialog box appears. Select the data on the Excel sheet. To the Dependent variable corresponds here "Whiteness" which variability we want to explain by the effect of the "Toothpaste" formula, the latter being the Qualitative explanatory variable. As we selected the column title for both variables, we also clicked on the option Variable labels.

Rapid publication-ready MS-Word tables for two-way ANOVA
BACKGROUND Statistical tables are an important component of data analysis and reports in biological sciences. However, the traditional manual processes for computation and presentation of statistically significant results using a letter-based algorithm are tedious and prone to errors. RESULTS Based on the R language, we present two web-based software for individual and summary data, freely av...
متن کاملInvestigating the Relatedness of Cloze-Elide Test, Multiple-Choice Cloze Test, and C-test as Measures of Reading Comprehension
Reading comprehension ability consists of multiple cognitive processes, and cloze tests have long been claimed to measure this ability as a whole. However, since the introduction of cloze test, different varieties of it have been proposed by the testers. Thus, the present study was an attempt to examine the relatedness of Cloze-Elide test, Multiple-choice (MC) cloze test, and C-test as three di...

Turkey's (1953, The Problem of Multiple Comparisons, unpublished report, Princeton University) procedure is widely used for pairwise multiple comparisons in one-way ANOVA. It provides exact simultaneous pairwise confidence intervals (SPCI) for balanced designs and conservative SPCI for unbalanced designs. In this paper, we will extend Turkey's procedure to two-way unbalanced designs. Both the e...
متن کاملAnalysis of variance.
Analysis of variance (ANOVA) is a statistical technique to analyze variation in a response variable (continuous random variable) measured under conditions defined by discrete factors (classification variables, often with nominal levels). Frequently, we use ANOVA to test equality among several means by comparing variance among groups relative to variance within groups (random error). Sir Ronald ...

In biomedical research, a common question posed by investigators is whether or not an outcome of interest differs significantly between multiple independent groups of subjects in the study sample. For example, in a randomized clinical trial focusing on differences in a parameter of cardiovascular health such as systolic blood pressure or heart rate that is measured on a continuum, one might mak...
